[and now she just looks curious. she does not need to know, but she's nosy. and she thinks that maybe it's nice to know more about the people she's stuck here with, so...]

Who are you waiting for? That partner you mentioned?

[naginota]

We are like partners back home, yes. [ a fond smile. ] My former master served his former master. They were close friends, so we served them together for many years.

His name is Imanotsurugi. After our last mission, he left on a journey to become stronger.

[residentflorist]

[so she's guessing it's another weapon who was summoned based on what iwatooshi says, so she's nodding along.]

How long ago was that? Have you heard from him since he left at all?

[naginota]

It’s been months now. [ his smile turns a little sad. ] I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be, but he did send a letter to our master. He’s working hard.

[residentflorist]

I bet. [letters are nice, at least.] It's good to know he's okay though even if it's hard to be apart. I'm sure he'll be back sooner than you think though.

[especially if they're all stuck here anyway for a while, but she does not say this.]

[naginota]

It's alright. I miss him dearly, but I'm content to wait, because I know it means he'll come back stronger when he's ready. I wouldn't dare rush him for my sake.

[residentflorist]

[that's a sweet way to look at it, she thinks.]

He sounds lucky to have a partner like you. It must be nice to have that kind of understanding between each other. [she has friends now and people she loves, but...every now and then she does feel a little spot of emptiness when it comes to longtime or close relationships.]

[naginota]

I think it's the opposite, actually. I'm lucky to have him.

It is, but it's not like we don't have our arguments, too.

[residentflorist]

I think both of those things can be true, Iwatooshi. [being lucky and feeling lucky.] Sometimes the arguments just make that bond stronger. It helps to know where you both stand.

[naginota]

[ he nods, after a slight hesitation. ]

Perhaps you’re right. But I won’t know for sure until he returns.

[residentflorist]

Right. [a nod.] Until then...we'll focus on getting us out of here so you can be there when he does return.
