[it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and aerith is on the island walking and exploring the area around these 10 little houses. she seems to be thinking to herself, peering into the windows and trying to see if anyone's home. this is probably how she quickly rounds a corner and startles in surprise at seeing asa, a hand coming up to her shoulder to steady both of them.]

Sorry, Asa! You scared me. [that happens when you're deep in your own thoughts.] Are you exploring the island?

[versus like. having a specific agenda.]

[OOP she is not eating shit thanks to aerith steadying both of them. a life saver. and thanks to the weekly effect, she doesn't even shrug the hand off her shoulder... immediately. she still does, but not as quickly as she otherwise would have, waving her concern off.]

Yeah. It's really nice, as long as you ignore the weird pyramid in the middle.

[she expected this from asa, honestly, so she is not at all offended when the other girl shrugs her off. instead, she brings her hands back to fold behind her back, rocking on her heels a little.]

Yeah...that thing's a little creepy. I haven't been over there yet, but...we should probably take a look at it sooner or later. Just in case.

Hmm... What do you think? It's probably going to be just as cursed as the bible.

Probably. [easily agreeing.] But if we're together, it might not be so bad? Better to find out now than be forced to later.

That's true. If we're going to get cursed anyway, it's better to get it over with now.

[residentflorist]

That's the spirit. C'mon. [gentle lil nudge to get her to start walking so we can head over that way...] We won't stay too long.

Yeah, fine. I'm walking.

[she's nearly dragging her feet, but it's fine. she's going.]

What do you think it's going to be this time? Another bible, but this one makes you bark like a dog?

[this is the most she can hope for with asa right now and that's okay. we're walking! she keeps her arms folded behind her back, head up and eyes moving to check the area.]

I think I've had enough bibles for a lifetime. But it wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of scripture. The pyramid does look like a place of worship, doesn't it? Like a temple.

[she nods.]

It's right in the middle of the village, too. Even if it isn't religious at all, it's probably still a big deal.

It almost feels out of place compared to everything else here. At least back in town everything fit the same kind of theme. Here, without the pyramid and the strange feeling, it would almost feel like a vacation spot. Somewhere to relax without worrying.

It's jarring. [they know not of the nihilism...] Even if the pyramid wasn't here, I don't think I could enjoy it without feeling paranoid.

Why? Because it feels almost too perfect otherwise?

Yes. Especially in comparison to all the other things we've had to deal with.

I'd just keep waiting for the catch, you know?

Not really. [just an honest answer.] I've never thought of it that way, anyway.

[...well she is a little moreso now, but still.]

So now you're calling me delusional? [she doesn't sound offended. she actually sounds like it might strike her as a little funny.]

How can you not expect a catch?

...maybe because I've already seen what might be waiting for me at any given moment. [it happens when you spend your life kind of trapped, watched, and wanted for other people's uses.] I don't want to let worrying about what could happen stop me from doing things I want to do.

... Living that way hasn't backfired on you?

[residentflorist]

A few times, sure. Things have happened that didn't work out well. But things came after that that did. [...] I don't regret anything that's come from my life.

[halved]

[she frowns, looking at her like she still thinks she's delusional.]

... There has to be at least one thing you regret, though. One thing you wish you could've done differently.

[she's really trying to think here, don't look at her like that.]

...I don't think I'd ever call them regrets is the thing. Everything that's happened up to this point worked the way it was meant to.
