[it's slowgoing, but she's up and moving. she's actually on her way back to the apartments, jamba juice in her hand. currently she looks extremely pale and her eyes are glowing, but she seems to be mostly fine? every now and then a hand comes up to adjust a black choker around her neck, but upon seeing erin she waves.]
Good to see you back on your feet despite everything.
[There indeed was a blip of relief in Erin's vibes when she saw Aerith! Which was then overcome by that awkward feeling of having to wonder if you should say something or not about Aerith's current appearance. Better be quiet, she decides]
Another Friday, yes. Spiced up even more by Kate's everything. I'm glad she was caught in the act.
[Because it means Kate can be helped. It just greatly sucks said help has to come in the form of, you know, death. Still, after all the deaths Kate's possession had caused...it's a good thing she was found in a manner that leaves absolutely no room for doubt]
[thank you, erin, it is best to ignore it. she knows. it's fine.]
Yup! Probably not for much longer, but just for a little bit to stretch. [there's a faint pulse of sympathy at the mention of kate though.]
Seems like a few of them had figured it out beforehand. Yuffie told me they were trying to figure out what to do...unfortunate it came to this, but at least they can decide for themselves tomorrow. We'll see if Famine shows up tomorrow with the others.
He better not blame Kate too hard for what happened.
[True, Erin didn't get to know Kate too in-depth because, well, early death, but from the conversations she had she doesn't think Kate would cause harm on purpose. She's just...a sooty girl a cult's monster pushed into doing several murders, and Famine should know that very well.
But sometimes one's feelings are irrational. It wouldn't be totally unexpected if Famine held some resentment, she'd say]
[there's a little hum, though her emotions are fairly blank with that.]
He's not like that. He wouldn't blame her for something that he knew was a possibility after what's happened already. [she only got to know kate a little bit in the short time she was alive, but she knows famine enough to feel like this is an accurate judgment.] And likewise, I hope nobody else blames her either.
Planning on skipping out on the welcoming committee? [haha.] For all we know, they'll find a way to deal with her on their side instead. But...we should prepare for that to not be the case. She's suffered for way too long.
[It did work but also the more shenanigans with people coming back to life happen, the likelier the cult will notice something is going on. Erin assumes they'll avoid solving the issue while on that side and instead will let Kate stay dead]
Most of my experience with teens of Kate's age mostly involves taking the mickey out of them. But I'll be there. Also will keep an eye on her once she gets her apartment and all.
[Erin has proved she's capable of befriending them for real, like she did with Karma despite the murderrrrrr, but also she's more used to bullying them somewhat than providing the comfort they need]
Or something else. They might've found a new option by now, but it's hard to say. And we can't really ask them without risking the information falls into the wrong hands.
[which is a whole other problem, really.]
But assuming all goes the way we think it will, then that's all I can ask. Depends on how they handle it, too. Pestilence bubble'd her, so they'll keep her alive until tomorrow but...who knows when after that. They might keep her as a safety vote if they don't find who killed the other two.
It is. But in reality you know there's the possibility. I would hope they don't think to prolong her suffering and find a solution sooner, but they still have a lot of work and fewer of them to do it tomorrow. They might let her help, too.
You know what's the easiest way to hurt someone? Do something because you love them. And I'm sure there's a bunch there who love Kate enough to mistakenly hurt her if they're not careful.
[That's got to be among the most cynical things Erin has said during the last two months, really]
I just hope they can look past their care for Kate and do what's best for her, even...if it's ugly.
[Erin is going to be so glad for Laudna and Lavi, once the trial happens]
I don't disagree with you. [which may or may not surprise her, really.] We want to do what's best for the people we love, but we don't want to see them in pain or cause them more pain. But they have to remember it's temporary. They know we're here now and that most everyone arrives here after they die. Camille notwithstanding.
[but she also understands that it's a hard ask for people to just bite the bullet and mercykill.]
I trust them to figure it out. Everybody knows we're also running out of time. The longer we delay, the more problems they'll run into later.
[It does surprise her! Makes her raise her eyebrows and all]
If they don't...do it, I'll have to write to them all. Promises, reassurances, whatever it takes. I'll come up with something.
[I have no idea what Erin would have ended up writing, but it probably wouldn't have been nearly as helpful as it'd be needed. Diplomacy is not her thing]
It doesn't have to be anything drastic. Just whatever you think might be enough. A simple reassurance, or an expression of wishing them a safe trip over here? Anything like that. I'm sure when the time comes you'll know what to say.

[That's a communal effort, Erin, the buck won't get passed like that. Be ready to do your part]

[Erin's groan comes from deep within]
So ugly to hear Kate be called 'a safety vote'.
[It's true! But really, hearing that drives home how absolutely messed up this situation is. It's official, this all is worse than hell was]
