[she looks in the direction he's pointing, eyes widening a bit at the sight of the water. it hasn't even been that long since they left costa del sol, since they had a little downtime to explore and enjoy a day at the beach, but when she thinks about it so much has happened since then. that's when yuffie joined them. that was another step in the right direction. that was a stop before they learned more.

so yeah. she looks at the ocean for a moment before she looks at cloud.]

Can we? [let's go down to the beach.]

but he smiles back at her look ]

You really need permission? [ let's go! to! the beach! a lot of stuff went Bad at costa del sol but there was some fun stuff so why not. why would the beach not be fun! ]

[thanks cloud. but yes, a lot of things truly went pear-shaped at costa del sol. but leading up to it and the original beach day they had was fun. exploring the seaside town was fun. the little excursion together was fun.

and even though things are still very much bad because cults are real and can hurt you, and even if she's still half-wondering if someone used a power on cloud (again)...she's selfish, in a way. she wants things just like everyone else, and right now what she wants is to spend more time with him while she can.]

I thought it'd be a little nice to make it feel like there was a choice. [still teasing. but this time she pulls him forward again, urging him onward to continue over the grass and past patches of bright, blooming flowers, walking amongst some of the fruit trees and approaching the coconut trees dotting the shoreline.]

I know you better than that by now. [ would someone truly do that. curse cloud first thing on monday morning.

cloud's honestly a little surprised she doesn't stop at the field of flowers, but he lets her tug him along all the way to the beach, and this is the longest they have held hands ever wow. he is looking at the fruit trees, though. ]

Think those are edible?

[at least he's in his own body right now. anyway, she doesn't comment on him knowing her better than that because he does actually know her pretty well by now, even if not everything. she'll make them stop at the flowers on the way back because cloud pointed out the beach first and that's where they should go. this is the longest they have held hands, and she's going to miss that when cloud goes back to being himself. rip.

still...we are staring at the trees, and she tilts her head.]

Could be. They look healthy enough. They're probably sweet. [she begins to approach a tree.] Think they're safe to try?

[you big weenie. it's fine, she'll take what she can get. and what she wants to take right now is a coconut, so she stops them at the base of a tree and kind of points up at a very ripe fruit.]

Maybe that one? It looks big enough to share it.

[ but despite being rude about it he shakes the tree!!! so that a coconut falls off!! and not bees. which he will then pick up ]

You get a chance to try one of these at Costa Del Sol?

Between everything that happened? No. But they looked good.

[there it goes! cloud picks up the coconut and she's looking at it curiously, rapping her knuckles on it.]

Hellllooo in there... [taptaptap.] How do we open it?

Mm. I mostly saw 'em being used for drinks. [ he has never had a coconut himself, honestly, because. when was he going to relax with a fuckin coconut. in his five year coma? anyway, he looks at it. lets her knock on it. do you think he can break a coconut with his bare hands. probably, but instead he throws it up and down ] Slice it?

[ don't say it like it is don corneo's balls ]

[coconut drink isn't a bad idea. coconuts can be a new experience for both of them though, and while he throws it up into the air and catches it again she's watching it.

she kind of grins though, knowing the reference.]

Well, probably can't rip it. Slice away!

[ taking a few steps away to do this in the most DRAMATIC ANIME RIDICULOUS fashion possible, which is to say throwing the coconut up and slicing it while it is in the air and then catching one half with his free arm while putting the sword back.

aerith can catch the other half or it can eat sand either way this is wasting a lot of coconut water :/ ]

[eat shit, water. she does not let the coconut half sail into the abyss. she actually jumps and catches it, landing back on the sand.]

Got it! [there is somehow still some water left even while doing this.] It smells sweet...[she is already trying to figure out how to scoop up some of the meat inside.]

[ smiles a little at her enthusiasm ]

Pretty sure you can drink what's inside. [ whatever is left, it's fine, he anime'd it. he's looking curiously at the flesh of the coconut himself and wondering if he should just. cut it. more. ]

[because they are essentially anime there is probably a good amount left for a little sip. cloud's busy staring at this coconut and aerith decides that it doesn't seem poisonous. so she drinks the water slowly to savor it.

and immediately kind of wrinkles her nose in surprise.]

Whoa...kind of spicy.

[residentmerc]

[ well he was going to drink some himself but ]

... Spicy?

[ looks dubiously at coconut ]

Yeah...[she says, taking another drink. it is still spicy. dumbass. give her a second to scoop up some of the meat from the inside to pop into her mouth, too.] It's still sweet but there's definitely a kick to it!

[ looking Very Amused as she does so ]

You sure you should be eating that?

[residentflorist]

[well she didn't drop dead, so.]

It's not bad. It's just...different? But I bet that means the other fruit from the trees around the island's just as edible.

Maybe. Not sure how I feel about a spicy peach, though.

[ but sure he'll like. lift this coconut to his mouth and take an awkward bite of the flesh of it. ]

...but a spicy coconut? [:o what is the verdict? they really are about to both be high on the beach on a monday.]

Y'know... I've had worse. [ it really is a weird kick. ] Might actually be better with a stronger flavored fruit, if they've all got that kick.

Then maybe we should try the other ones after all? [her eyes are wide and she looks kind of excited about the idea.] We can pick one from each tree and share them just to see what tastes best.

Sure. Might as well make a fruit salad at this point.

[ he doesn't mean literally, but he's smiling back at her looking so excited because im forever cursed ]

Cloud! [important!!!] There're those houses back there on the island. They must have a kitchen, right? [she can cook! and prove herself!
