... It got too close to that already. [ it was very lucky that boothill was brought back to himself at the exact right moment, and it did not seem like there was a contingency that would've saved karlach's life otherwise. ]

Could be. It also seemed like they weren't sure what the ritual would really bring if what Lucas said was true. [so it was probably a surprise to all of them...] Something else to be prepared for, I suppose.
