Do you think the overseers would know even if we asked? [she starts flipping through a rack of dresses.] Or do you think the answer would be "we have no idea and it doesn't matter"?
Really? I haven't spoken to them that much. [she finds war interesting, but this is the first time she's heard someone else mention it first.] But they do seem easier to talk to than they make themselves out to be.
[i feel like famine might be right. me personally.]
Oh? What's wrong with bad jokes anyway? And doesn't that depend on the topic? [she cares a little less about that and more about the rest.] I haven't been avoiding them at all. But things have been...very busy lately. I want to give them some space from having to answer to all of us while still getting to know them better if we're all meant to work together.
Oh. No, just go and bother them. I’m sure Famine hates it, but Pestilence doesn’t seem too bothered and War will indulge you. [ plus it’s like a little petty payback if he’s bothering them, as far as he’s concerned. ] Ultimately we could be dead before the week’s out so there’s little point in sitting on your hands.
Oh, the horror. [TERRIBLE. this is hilarious though thank you for the tip-off.]
Famine always says they only have to show up because the crow won't leave them alone, but they've never rushed me out or made me ask my questions right away. But you're not wrong. I...waited too long to try again with Death, and I haven't quite forgiven myself for that one yet.
They’re very intolerant of things they don’t care for. I’m never quite sure if I’m getting them on a good day or a bad one. [ the AUDACITY of astarion being the one saying this. ] To be fair, my dear, I don’t think they expected anything like that to happen either.
[she does in fact playfully raise her eyebrows but she will not call him out on it.]
Guess that depends on what you'd call a good or a bad day. It's still a day they're part of a cult. [so you know. debatable! but she does nods, eyes drifting off toward a wall of shoes.] ...it didn't seem like they did, no. It kind of feels like they're taking a bigger risk to keep helping us after that, too.
I'm sure they have their own reasons. It's easier to believe they really are trying to help when one of them died in the process, but it's rare for something to be given without a secondary motive in place.

They're easy enough to get on a topic, and once they're on the topic things are fairly simple. Why, have you been avoiding them all?

They were knock knock jokes. [ a SIN. ]

I’d say. They were bad.

Well. If we're just rats to them then guess we'll have to do the unexpected, now won't we?

That's the secret. Nobody else has to know.
