He talks a big game, but I don't think he does as well as he thinks when he's really by himself. But he's close, I'll give you that.

He seems to pretty much threaten it at every minor inconvenience, so I'd say so.

He reminds me of Cloud mostly. Says they're used to working alone but has a team they've gotten so used to that they take a little time to warm up to other people. Usually they'll say they're fine and get a little annoyed if you press too much, too, but it's about learning how to talk to them.

[her opinion of kanda is very wildly different than kanda's of her, probably.]

That sounds about right, with what I've managed to glean of him and his exorcist... teams? It's not quite a squadron.

Fortunate that he's willing to listen to most doctor's orders, but if he keeps this up, I imagine Lavi will rip off his other ear.

And then Kanda will just keep yelling at him. [she shakes her head.] The two of them...in some ways it's fortunate they were both brought here. But I think that about a few people here. That it was better they weren't necessarily brought alone.

We do seem to have a pretty high rate of acquaintances and friends coming together, don't we...?

It's weird, right? I'm not the only one who thinks it's a little unusual it happened this way. I think it was actually Kanda I was talking to that it made little sense why they didn't just take 40 people from the same place since they can obviously grab more than one of us at a time.

I would've thought it was on purpose, but there's really no pattern to it from what I can see. Even with Miss Marina... we may have been in the same vicinity, and are from the overall same world technically speaking, but we may as well have been practically strangers. Definitely not to the level of you, Cloud, and Yuffie, or Suguru and Satoru... among others.

Just strange, is all. Might've just picked up people who happened to be in the close vicinity or something.

Right, you mentioned before that the two of you weren't more than acquaintances. I imagine that's changed a little since we got here though. [or she hopes. even if marina's a teenager, perhaps there's a little bit of comfort for daan to have someone vaguely familiar with his situation.]

I've been wondering why it was me, Cloud and Yuffie. There were five other people with us, and...there were plenty of other options. Same for you and Marina, wasn't it? You weren't the only ones traveling to that city. Maybe it doesn't matter so much now but it's something to think about to figure out how to get back, at least.

I'll give any theory at least a little time of my day, yeah. You never know. Clearly anything can happen, so even if it feels irrelevant, may as well keep it on the back-burner.

I believe a part of the cult's criteria was as wide of a range as possible though, so maybe they were reluctant to pluck eight of you from the same place. Too many familiar faces and they may as well be stupidly outnumbering themselves.

That's a good way to look at it. Keep everything in mind and rule it out as we go. Maybe you're right...if people came in with the people they were most familiar with, they'd be able to tear the cult down easily. Being this spread out means having more control over us. And it means making things like the trips through the fog, or the break-ins, even more powerful.

...the most we can do right now is keep that in mind and see if it helps us figure out their next steps, I think.

I'm tired of sitting around and speculating, to be honest...

I don't have a lot of faith that it'll stop but we're encroaching on the end. It'll be over one way or another.

Let's just hope it's in our favor. [...] For now, let's take the rest of the day to recover and prepare as best as we can for our new arrivals tomorrow. As much as I don't like the idea of new people joining us, at least having some fresh ideas might help.
