Digitalis Old English folklore said that foxes wore the flowers on their paws to silence movement and stealthily stalk prey. Healing, pain, insincerity, insecurity
Keeping track. If we're here for this long, with as much downtime as we have... in Prehevil at least, I spent the time I had looking for answers, exploring a massive city. Here, we practically exhausted the camp in three days, the island in just about the same amount of time.
On the other hand, lots more people, and overseers that will answer you if you ask the right questions. So.
Just keeping things organised before the words start bleeding out of my ears. There's a lot to remember.
Not a bad idea. Especially if another door opens soon like the one that led us to the island. We know the fog can change on its own, so...it's more likely than we think. Maybe we should ask for a calendar or something? Even if we don't know the date, it could help track the days a little easier. Less paper for you. "Explored the island day x to y!" "Watched someone turn into a dog on day z!"
Might help us trace back what powers are used by who, dont'cha think? [this would not work but also. kinda funny.] Or at least give us an idea of any patterns we can expect.
First v Monday: Myself ↔ Suguru Geto Tuesday: Mathis Claude ↔ Gale of Waterdeep, Karma Akabane ↔ Yuffie Kisaragi
And points at it. ]
All of these cases lasted two days. On Monday I felt oddly cheerful, which lasted around half a day. These powers aren't distributed equally, I can tell you that much. How long did Mr. Strife and Pickles's, Karlach's and Miss Izutsumi's body swaps last again? Also two days each?
Oh. The cheerful one hit Cloud, too, for the same amount of time. And that...maybe wasn't a power? I wonder if it was one of the items some people got after the trick or treating thing the overseers did for us. But Pickles and Cloud were swapped for a full day. I'm pretty sure Karlach and Izutsumi's was the same time. [a pause.]
There's also the one where two people feel as though they're in love. That one lasts two days, just like the hatred one.
[lmao she just told me i can't believe this. but she nods along as he jots his memos. yay she's helping :)]
With how some of the items spread out, it sounds possible. I think someone hit me with one Wednesday that only lasted a few hours. Not even twelve. [but she's rolling over that.]
You'd have to ask Cloud or one of the others about the personal account with the body swapping, but the love one...[she thinks.] I think it's something like even if you don't really know the person well, or even if you do, you feel as if they're the most important person in the world. They can do nothing wrong in your eyes, and you're willing to do anything they ask because you want them to be happy. You care about them, and you want to be together no matter what your other feelings for them might've been. Pretty much the polar opposite of the hatred one.
Mm. I can attest to that, since I was hit with the hatred effect on Monday of the first week we were here. I felt a complete and utter dislike of Mr. Geto, which is pretty abnormal for me. The feeling was mutual.
[ Just that I guess, fortunately because it was so early and because they're both relatively level-headed, they didn't escalate it nearly as badly as Mathis/Gale and Karma/Yuffie did. ]
And there's also the matter that there was two cases this week... but there's also been the lovers effect? So maybe it's that they can do both.
I didn't even notice...[so yeah, that's likely it. mathis is so mild-tempered and karma and yuffie are fighty teens anyway. but to that, she shakes her head.]
I think they might be two separate powers. There were two cases of the hatred effect, but also two cases of the love effect this week. Unless it's a partner set that found each other right away and they were able to up their ability, but I don't think so. There were two cases of a love effect last week, too.
Well...if you had partner A use the effect on Mathis and Gale, and partner B use the effect on Karma and Yuffie, that's one use per week, one monster, two partners who don't know each other. But then you have partner C who uses the effect on Anisphia and...maybe Asa? I'm not entirely sure myself. And partner D who uses the effect on Robin and me, that's another one of one use per week, one monster, two partners who don't know each other.
Last week it was you and Geto, right? I don't recall someone else experiencing the hatred, but it was Cloud and Aventurine, and then Aqua and Marina who experienced the love effect.
...So you think they're separate people entirely? I was thinking more that it was A causing amorous feelings in one pair and hateful ones in another... and B doing the same to another unfortunate two pairs.
It's not a requirement to use your ability every single week, as far as I know.
If it's possible they can impact a total of four people a week each, that's...that's a lot. [what the absolute fuck!] It's people testing things out. We were thinking it might've been a signal to their partner to try and find them, maybe. But I'm not sure.
Me too. If there's one among the list of bakunawa, ditto, glawackus, gumiho, koromodako, oni, qilin... and I guess mothman that you know about, I'd love to hear it.
[ Like... he could probably use his imagination for what Mothman is... but he could always be surprised... ]
Maybe I can ask around without revealing why. Those are a lot of the ones I'm not familiar with either. There's also always the chance the overseers could at least give us an idea of what they are even if we can't ask what they do.
Mm. Don't feel too pressured into it. I'm sure someone knows -- Gale seems like one.
[ Inb4 he doesn't because BG3 is tabletop territory. ]
I'll write you a copy if you want. Gave Yuffie one too.
[ She may have bothered him into it. ]
That being said, best be careful who you talk to and exactly what you say. Based on what Famine told me:
Speculation seems fine. Can't definitely declare any monsters and their respective abilities, unless it's your own -- in which case, mind your weekly allowance.
Don't reveal another person's monster affinity to anyone else unless they know you're doing it. Counts for their limit.
Can't name the powers of the deceased. Their monsters are fine.
I can always ask him. I don't mind...I wanna help where I can, and if it's easier to spread out some of the work I can do it. [helping!] But that'd be great. Yuffie'll probably show us, too, but a spare is nice.
[but she listens to these rules...]
So...we can't say "this monster has this power", but we can say "this monster could have this power" and that'd be fine? I don't want to ruin someone else's limit when we're all still trying to figure stuff out. Wonder if that counts if the deceased tells us themselves.
That's what I'm figuring, anyway. We'll just have to sidestep the cult's rules -- bend them a little, or a lot. It's the least we deserve to get to do.
[ The whole 'I didn't say she stole my money' thing. Emphasis shifting and goalpost moving depending on whatever the cult tries to pull, yippee. ]
I think I'm pretty good at talking around things. If I share this list with some others, I'll let them know, too. I want all of us to be as safe as possible but be in the know.
[looking at the scroll....] Does that mean you got this from Famine?
There's no limit to sharing this list itself -- the more everyone with us is updated, probably the better. The only reason why I'm not just posting it on the bulletin itself at this point is for security's sake. Wouldn't want the cult deciding they need to step in and make things a bit harder.
Yeah. Reached out to them after the voting ritual. I should've asked them during the whole thing itself, but got preoccupied with Mr. Kasuga's body.
[ Dealing with an axed out heart blew it all out of his mind... is my IC justification because OOCly I did just forget. ]
Then I'll check with the others at the church, too. It's for the best if we spread it more via word of mouth than posting when we know we're being watched.
[there's a half-smile.]
I think we can all forgive you for that one, Daan. It was...unexpected. All of it. [we still don't know why this man's heart was cut out.] I was going to reach out to at least one of them today myself. I think they may be learning more as we are, so it can't hurt to check what our new limits are.
I'm not that concerned, you don't need to comfort me. I think the list would have been a bit much for us to consider on top of everything going on anyway.
[ It was honestly probably for the best -- they'd end up spending time talking about it during the trial, and it's too early for that kind of stuff. ]

Yeah, that tracks.
[ Zia and I just :harold: at each other as we pc on Monday and we learn we're mutually cursed. That was incredibly funny. ]
...No? Hmm. It's worth considering.
[ He jots down a memo, demarcating >24h and <24h. ]
Do you know any personal accounts of what it felt like? It'd make sense... sounds like it'd go together like a pair.
