Whoa...you must be really good at it then. [she notes the bit of distance in the tone, but she chooses not to press for now. this is about keeping things light. friendly. escaping from the ever-present nihilistic attitude looming closer and closer.
so. she looks back to the mannequins first, and then the walls where clothes hang before them.]
A few things here and there, I think. [...] Clothes and things like that are a little expensive where I'm from. You can get by if you have enough money, but I've never really thought to keep a lot of things. They're nice to look at though.
[it's not even about "oh i'm just a humble girl who doesn't need much", it's "i like the idea, but it just never worked out like that."]
I didn't grow up with money. I want to dress like a proper lady, if I can. But I never had access to that sort of thing growing up. We were just peasants.
I think I get it. [it sounds familiar, anyway. anyone who grew up in the slums of midgar like she did didn't exactly do so willingly, it was the lack of other options outside of living the city all together and hoping for the best.]
But...the opportunity's here now, right? [free clothing is such a gift.] What does a proper lady look like to you? Maybe we can find something you'd like and can be altered to your tastes.
Well, you know. Fine fabrics, that sort of strong silhouette - a wide skirt, a structured jacket, that sort of thing. Your average person tailors more simply.
[she is looking at her own jacket for a moment as if she's considering if that counts.]
I don't know if I've really thought about it. What you described doesn't sound bad, but...I don't know if that's something I could wear too often. Wider skirts are a little harder to move in, and fine fabrics could rip when we're fighting. Guess being practical wins sometimes.
[it's the opposite of a sensitive subject, she's delighted to tell her about this. anyway, what she's describing here is form of dread]
It's simple magic. I can change my body so I become something even more terrifying! It makes it much more difficult to attack me, as most are too frightened to come near.
[looks at her username and nods sagely. anyway this is kind of cool? she seems to stop what she's doing because she is in awe a little because it's not like any of them can essentially shapeshift and be more powerful.]
That's...really cool. [so strong!! but...] It doesn't hurt you though, does it?

[she's a little distant when she says that. but then she'll smile.]
Do you see anything you like?

[that's the benefit. but she'll poke around for some pretty but simple dresses maybe.
also i do think her little jacket counts.]

she asks anyway while she proceeds to browse some cute blouses to pair with longer skirts.]
When you say shift...what does that really mean for you? How does it work?
