[this is the funniest comment but yeah! this happens to her multiple times. but she will at least explain why. she doesn't seem too fussed about this particular memory.]
They're called Whispers. They're...arbiters of fate, like Red said. Beings born from the planet whose sole purpose is to keep destiny on course. If someone tries to stray too far, or if an event occurs that isn't in line with the planet's will, they'll intervene. But...not everyone can see them. At least not right away.
[which is the actual reason everyone just let her stand there for a while.]
They appear whenever anyone tries to stray too far from the given path. And...we did. We had to in order to try and stop someone who's going to destroy the planet if we don't stop him first. But...some of them are helping him, too.
[...well. she thinks there's no harm in fully explaining it, especially since the memory itself gives some context.]
I think it's because I'm a Cetra. Being a steward of the planet means we have a connection. They really only show up when we're straying off-course from what the planet's will is. But we have to defy them in order to save her. [her being the planet.]
Sephiroth wants to destroy her, and some of the Whispers seem to respond to him. He can use them to make sure certain events continue to occur the way they should to suit his purposes. We can't let him win.
Somehow...he has some influence over the lifestream, too. Five years ago, he was said to have gone missing during a training exercise. But then the story changed a few days later that he was killed in action. He's back now though...not really alive, but still around. It means he's able to influence them somehow, using them whenever someone tries to alter the flow of destiny. He's returned to finish what he started, and he won't stop until he reaches that goal. And our goal is to stop him entirely.
but anyway she doesn't even get to say thank you for the sentiment before a new memory comes, and aerith finds herself thinking that cases like this might support the idea of why it's a little okay to try and defy destiny. even if it's scary, and even if it's hard, if it'll save people...isn't that important? when the memory itself fades into darkness, she pauses to collect her thoughts before meeting laudna's eyes again.]
...is what she said true? That you're really bound together so deeply.
Do you know what caused her to come back? [if she went quiet, that must mean something worked before. maybe she's just a little hopeful.] Unless it was just time.
[she should give her some space and not press, but...she also thinks laudna will tell her outright if she doesn't want to talk about this. there's no reason to not try to understand.]
We're trying to stop a man who wants to unleash a force that will devour all of the gods. Delilah is herself devoted to a god. [a very evil one, but that doesn't matter for these purposes.] We think the force he unleashes is likely to do more damage than only that.
But what's important is that she needs us to succeed.
Sounds familiar. [in that she's getting tired of finding out how many people have little evil men who want to destroy the world.] Seems like she really doesn't have a choice then. But...maybe that could be used to your advantage someday. Like if you help her stop this force, she'll find a way to let you go. I don't know if it works like that, but...it's the least she could offer you.

Just another abandoned home...I'm starting to wonder if anyone ever lived here at all. They'd be pretty far away from anything if they did.
[but she doesn't get too far in her wondering before laudna is presented with memory time! to 2:43:11. thank you, you useless effect.]

laudna isn't the type to ignore or offer not to talk about a memory. she saw it, and she's curious, watching with mild concern. why wouldn't she ask?]
Dear, what are those things?

[does she have some sort of terrible fate...]

If fate is so determined to stop you, you must be quite impressive, I think.

[i'm going to say something controversial here but after seeing cloud's memories she's not a big fan of this sephiroth.
anyway, please have a return memory]

remembering this makes her feel a lot of guilt.]
...I suppose it is.

But...there must be a way to separate you. You're your own person. No matter what she says.

They did defeat her here, and she was quiet, for a time. But she came back.

...I did. I made a mistake.

What do you mean by that?

It fed her... it gave her the power to return again.

We can't always help how we feel. [first and foremost.] But that sounds like it'd be scary, being in that moment and having that happen again.
...if you were able to beat her once...it has to be possible again, right?

But I think I must live with it. We have someone to stop as well, and she... at the least, she wants to help.

She'll cooperate with you long enough to achieve what you need to do to stop things? Who are you trying to stop?
no subject
But what's important is that she needs us to succeed.
