Digitalis Old English folklore said that foxes wore the flowers on their paws to silence movement and stealthily stalk prey. Healing, pain, insincerity, insecurity
[this man also grew up in a cult didn't he. i don't trust any of these things.]
Did it seem like they grew into it? [this is a genuine question because she thought it sounded a little more like they joined later in life. but maybe that doesn't matter so much.]
Which of them did you get a chance to talk to earlier?
Unsure. We only had a short moment to speak with them after all. I'd like to know how they came across it...
I spoke to Death and Famine. [ Now that I think about it it was not on purpose but I really did Fear & Hunger this. ] Death claims to be a doctor as well, and that's why they disagree with the notion of letting so many die.
[HELP you really did. but she nods and...also that is somehow a little more information than she got. unfortunately she is more likely to make nice in public and then grill them in private so it's fine.]
Death and War for me. It's nice to know that if something really does happen, maybe Death can help so it's not all on you. [aerith, severely underestimating how much this game will likely fuck people up.] Even if there's no bearing, it's something to keep in mind. Being angry with them for being a part of this cult isn't going to help when we don't know the full story.
...did it seem like they were against people dying at all? [what are our chances of survival here.]
Mm... maybe. But it looks like we're not doing too bad in that front? An apothecary... a nurse, or someone who at least knows the basics of it. You. Me.
And others at least know how to patch themselves up if nothing else.
[ That's not too bad. ]
...Don't know that much yet. Would've had to talk to them with the personal assumption that people were going to start dying soon. I'm sure we're all against that.
That's better than I expected. [as long as people can take care of themselves enough, that's one less problem.]
I cannot think of a single person who would want any of us--[...] I cannot think of that many people who would want any of us to die. And even then I don't think anyone would want us to die just for this cause. But I don't know enough about occult rituals to know how it works. If it's just as strong without as many sacrifices or what.
Have you had a chance to meet Kanda yet? [this is perhaps the first time she has managed to sound dry the entire time they've known each other in these short few days.]
Yeah. Lavi told me they were friends and they worked at the same place, so I guess he would know better than anybody how to handle him.
[but this is the first time she's hearing anything bad about karma, even though i, personally, am not surprised because he is played by ori.]
Oh? I've talked to him a little. He seemed...pretty convinced he could just beat up our captors. [faintly amused. she kind of thought it was just a kid extrapolating but now she's kind of wondering what, exactly, daan has heard.]
I noticed. [WHO IS DOING THIS i was half-convinced it was you and char tbh.] It was gone when we slept in the church the other day, and then it came back, and it was gone again when I checked today. I've asked a few people and nobody's been able to read it so far, so...
[ WE JUST KEEP TRYING TO TAKE THE BIBLE REPEATEDLY... definition of insanity behaviour etc. ]
I thought I'd told a number of people not to. Everyone I've personally told seemed fairly understanding, but I guess I'll never know.
[ If he had like. A pen and paper. He'd just post it to the bulletin board at this rate but he doesn't, so the best he can do is manstand as the Bible repeatedly gets taken. ]
You did just say the bigger the deterrent the bigger the temptation. [if you tell people no, they may just do it out of spite. people be wild.]
...pretty weird to think that the cultists would probably know though. [like she says this, but somehow the tone is more "yeah this may as well happen" rather than being very perturbed about being watched.]
[ He looks exhausted just thinking about the idea of someone agreeing with him to his face and then going off to be a goblin. He wishes he was more the type of person to be like 'ok ur funeral' but unfortunately, he really does wish people wouldn't.
He sighs. Please be known that you're appreciated for being reasonable Aerith. ]
Enough to worry about already without all of that, but not much we can do in the immediate... the best we can do is recollect our thoughts a bit and see to it tomorrow.
[someone please help daan actually. the mention of tomorrow seems to distract her from that original topic though because...well.]
Right. People might start looking for their partners, or at least trying to figure out how their powers work. Could get pretty messy pretty fast. [in a way she thinks it could be a little interesting to at least try to figure out what's available that might be able to help. in practice, she's pretty sure a lot of people are going to be feeling A Way tomorrow. she will look back on these feelings tomorrow when we inevitably have some insane effect and also wish it were more simple.]
I asked War what sort of rewards would be granted if people did find their matches. I might ask one of the others, too, just to understand a little better. But right now it didn't sound worth the risk of losing someone else if something happens to us. Or the other way around.
And the wish is just for them. [it's not even for the people they brought in, so that's even less incentive, she thinks.] "Altercation within the parameters of the dimension and world from where you came and an upgrade in power." That's what they said would be ours if we found a match.
[so. she has questions.]
The idea of a wish for them does sound a little flimsy though. It didn't sound like any of them had witnessed a ritual before.
That's about what I can tell. You'd think they'd make that more appealing if they wanted to up their chances of us dying. [again, she does not want to die, but if they want sacrifices...]
...death isn't always the end, but that doesn't change how it complicates things. And it doesn't change everything that's left behind.
Especially when we don't know what could be waiting for us here on the other side. [yeah. yeah it could be worse than death when it's cult shit.] Then we have to make sure people aren't taking unnecessary risks, right? Stay alive as long as possible until we find a way to prevent the ritual for good.

Could be that they infiltrated on purpose...
But that's just pure speculation with no bearing.

Lavi had some warnings to say about his behaviour. Seeing as they know each other, I'd hope he can keep Mr. Kanda in check.
...
I've been warned about Karma Akabane's behaviour from two others, too.

Lavi informed he seems to have an odd fascination with flipping up people's eyepatches.
[ Well, it's just Lavi and Daan, so rip Lavi. Daan has avoided this for now. ]
Marina also says he's been rather eager about bringing leeches to people.
[ Like. Technically not... super harmful? But definitely reckless and kind of antagonistic behaviour. These cultists really know how to pick 'em. ]
no subject
At least you know before it can happen. [good luck avoiding it forever. also she just looks a little :unamused:]
Maybe we should make an even bigger sign telling people to leave the leeches alone.

Unfortunately, it's very possible the bigger the deterrent, the bigger the temptation.
...
The Bible's gone repeatedly missing.

I'll pass... thanks.
I'm not interested in feeding whatever monster they've nestled in me.
Besides, if I do that and then I die, someone else does too.

Sounds a little bullshitty to me. Less about Death themselves more than how easily they'd claim something like that.
It's all the same. Commune with the gods, get what you want -- but the price will outweigh a wish before long.
no subject
[so. she has questions.]
The idea of a wish for them does sound a little flimsy though. It didn't sound like any of them had witnessed a ritual before.

So in short, not enough information to suggest there are any promised benefits that actually outweigh the possible losses.
And I do believe in the existence of the second -- even if it's only in writing, "death" is a pretty big deal.
