[on this fine day, aerith is leaving the church in her usual outfit, hair in its braid and pink ribbon holding it all together. the bracelets on her arms jingle just slightly as she walks, hands clasped behind her back as she begins to wander off on her own to check on the area. nothing really seems to have changed (that she's aware of immediately), but she does stop when she sees someone familiar.
she'd read a little of robin's poster after they met, but it's still better to do things the proper way and this is why she offers her a smile.]
Hey. I don't think I ever got your name earlier. I'm Aerith. [nice to meet you, etc. this is simple and it's a gauge to see if she's open to conversation, really.]
[not the brother...she does glance briefly at the word, but she's not going to acknowledge it unless robin does, really.]
It's nice to meet you. [sincerely! we are all in a terrible situation but aerith is still working off of the idea that the least they can do is keep trying to band together and figure out how to stop everyone from dying.] How have you been holding up? Hearing everything yesterday was a little bit of a shock.
[hello robin, aerith is having the same idea which means she easily falls into step with her. sorry for the smoke and the raspy voice she's sporting here.]
Better than some, I think. [so not good, not bad.] Were you out there looking this morning?
[ it's been a very long weekend, and it still isn't over yet. it's not a surprise that robin continues to be subdued after execution, but she's taking a walk, as if to do anything at all.
she'll offer a small smile when she sees aerith. ]
Miss Aerith. I don't think I'd like a repeat of these past few days.
[ robin thinks there will be a repeat eventually. ]
[my god, how is it still not over? it's been such an insane couple of days and aerith's kind of impressed the vibes of the town aren't worse than they are. but she can't say she's too surprised that robin's keeping to herself a little more. there's a similar smile back as she moves to fall into step with her. let's walk.]
Neither do I. [aerith is an optimist through and through, but looking at the circumstances there's no way this won't repeat at some point. especially if the cult really is behind this.] I don't want to see what happens to us if this happens again when things are already so hard on everyone.
[ she's grateful for aerith's company. she appreciates the optimism every time (they've only known each other for a week) (every time), but being optimistic doesn't mean you can't see the forest for the trees. ]
The weight of it will continue to grow the more it happens. All I wish is to ease any suffering, but these past few days.... it's something that could become too much, in too short a time.
[ she doesn't know how much can be eased, if it happens again. when it happens again because this cult needed to be stopped a week ago. ]
[it is monday and aerith wastes zero time bounding up to robin with a smile on her face. things are still absolutely awful, but...they just have to keep trying.]
Robin, hey! Are you busy right now? [literally with what, we're in hell.] I was thinking maybe you'd like to come with me to see that new island...it's just through the door in the woods.
[she's back at the pyre, uselessly staring at the posters with her arms wound around herself as she reads them over. this is...this is a lot. but she hears someone behind her and immediately composes herself, turning her head to offer a small smile.]
Oh, Robin. Hey. [...there is no making this better.] ...we knew this was coming, but so many of them?
[ there really is no making this better. her mood is somber, and her expression reflects it, but she's concerned about everyone with the bulletin board notices. ]
It's too many, too soon. It worries me as much as it saddens me.
[the beach is a great option, we are going to be anti-fire for a bit. she will walk up beside her and settle there.]
...we got through the last few days. But people are already nervous knowing Ichiban's killer is still out there. It basically guarantees we'll have at least two monsters to contend with next time, doesn't it?
[sometime post-baby and post ita flocket cupcake gossipsmoochgate...they are here! i suppose here is jamba juice for now and they can go elsewhere later.]
Have you had a chance to try one of these yet? You can get them with just about any kind of fruit.
[at this point, aerith can be found seated at the fountain in the middle of town with a jamba juice and just staring into the void. the drink is mostly full and seems to be something she grabbed out of habit, but it's fine. she waves when she sees robin though.]
[good morning robin!! aerith is at the cat store today and she's busy feeding the babies and making sure they're taken care of. mostly to give herself something to do...]
What do you think is going to happen to this place when we leave? [when, not if.]
[ good morning! robin will help even if she will stop and pet cats that let her in between helping.
when is real. ]
I don't think it'd stop existing simply because we aren't here. It may not expand anymore because there's no one to react anymore, but it existed before we arrived.
It could go the way of the ones that show up on the other side.
[back on the graveyard side of things and when everyone has had a chance to shower and heal up...she's off to find robin! she is one of the people aerith is purposefully looking for, so she will seek her out, and eventually when she does come across her...]
I think we deserve a treat after all of that, don't you? [it's easy to frame it that way, but knowing that tomorrow will be their last day here...well, she wants something easy and fun and one more good memory with people she's grown to love.]

...makes you miss the island already, huh? [there's a little smile, and she shakes her head.] Wanna see where this leads?
[even if she's already beginning to walk though, when robin makes to follow she'll be treated to a memory lasting until 7:10:20.]

[ despite the nihilist temple.
